The Street Kids History

Thousands of children live on the streets for many reasons.  This includes being orphaned by AIDS or they have had to fend for themselves because there is only one parent who is unable to care for them.

Street children have no identity and are regularly beaten by people who do not care for them.

They are often seen begging and scavenging for food on rubbish tips.

Since 1998 the founders of the “Street Kids” charity have worked closely with the Kenyan adults who have been supporting these young people and caring for all their needs.

This is no mean task as many of the adults are also poor themselves and have their own families to support as well.

The charity plans to build “safe houses” in areas where young people are homeless.

Several projects are already underway and working well, and with the right support, other projects can flourish in many other areas.

Unfortunately, the young people who live on the streets have been let down in many ways and far too often. Harambee for Kenya is therefore doing all it can to help them.
